  • CONVERT GOLFERS INTO GOLF MEMBERSHIPS  new
The first place to start is to find out what percentage of golfers visit or call your golf club each year and commit to some kind of loyalty program. This is a lot easier to track than most people think. Over and over, I talk about the necessity of research when it comes to effective golf marketing and professional golf membership sales. Again, I will show you how a little internal research will help you increase rounds and therefor golf revenue with very little effort at all.

  • DIRECT MAIL GOLF MARKETING  new
Direct mail is absolutely, hands down, unequivocally, the very best medium for marketing your golf property. There is no better medium available when it comes to profiling your casual and core golfers through demographics and psychographics than that of purchasing or renting quality lists based on the golfers buying and spending habits, as well as their geographic location relative to your golf facility.

  • DO HIGHER PRICE POINT GOLF MARKETING  new
Just because a higher price may mean that golfers perceive your golf products and/or golf services more favorably, it doesn’t mean they will buy it. And since success is based on sales, this approach is still considered a failure if you cannot get people in the door through your golf marketing endeavors at the higher price point.

  • E- GOLF MARKETING  new
This is probably the most misunderstood and enormously overrated golf marketing medium of all. E-golf marketing is often presented as the best way to market your golf club because it is the most effective and least expensive golf marketing medium available to golf course owners. This couldn’t be the furthest from the truth.

  • GOLF COURSE MARKETING 2013  new
As I traveled to thousands of golf courses throughout the world I met a lot of great industry people. I love talking to them and listening to their stories about their lives growing up in the golf industry. I heard stories about how their grandfathers took cow pastures and turned them into beautiful golf courses and how they still run things the way they did twenty, thirty, and even, fifty years ago. I’ve heard success stories of how kids started out as caddies and worked hard all of their lives and eventually were able to buy their own golf course. Stories of kids who grew up in the country clubs and said they too would own their own golf property and saw their dreams come true. Soon, I started putting two and two together and came up with a revelation of sorts.

  • GOLF COURSES GOING OUT OF BUSINESS  new
The answer to this question can vary widely depending on who you ask; but five reasons always make the top ten: 1. Cash Flow (usually number one in most surveys) 2. Poorly marketed (lack of or ineffectively marketed) 3. Incompetence (I prefer to say “one person is wearing too many hats”) 4. Poor location (another way of saying…poorly marked) 5. A declining market (lack of innovative golf marketing tools)

  • GOLF MARKETING "BACKEND" REVENUE  new
Too many GMs, Golf Pros and Owners put too much emphasis on the upfront investment and locked in monthly fees and neglect the potential "backend" golf revenue. They feel they have to force and demand the golf member to commit to spending x in food and beverage each month when it would be far easier (and more palatable for the golf member) to condition the golfer to spend more in all of the profit centers.

  • GOLF MARKETING AND BRANDING  new
When speaking with GM’s, Owners and Golf Professionals one of the first issues they raise with doing any golf marketing campaigns is they are concerned with tarnishing their brand.

  • GOLF MARKETING AND CONFORMITY  new
According to Wikipedia.org, conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms. Norms are implicit, unsaid rules shared by a group of individuals that guide their interactions with others and among society or social group. This tendency to conform occurs in small groups and/or society as a whole, and may result from subtle unconscious influences, or direct and overt social pressure. Conformity can occur in the presence of others or when an individual is alone.

  • GOLF MARKETING AND KNOWING WHO THE BOSS IS  new
One of the biggest challenges in business is making sure everyone in the company knows who the “BOSS” really is. Some owners are even often confused with who the real boss is, sometimes taking the liberty of thinking it is themselves. Some managers want to be the boss but are delusional in their thinking when it comes to reality. The one and only boss in the golf industry is the golfer. That’s right, the customer (golfer) is the boss and don’t ever let your ego tell you otherwise.

  • GOLF MARKETING CONSCIOUS COMPETENCE  new
“Conscious competence” (you are now aware and are currently equipping yourself with the tools necessary, i.e., to successfully launch a golf marketing campaign) is the third stage in mastering a given skill and this is when you start to work on the mastery of your craft. At this stage, you are acquiring the additional tools, skills and education necessary to build the fundamentals of your new career in the mastery of golf marketing and professional golf membership sales. This is the stage when you start to advance and become more competent in golf marketing. At this point of your journey, you have started to educate yourself in other subjects such as history, the sciences, psychology, etc., along with marketing and sales in order to broaden your knowledge in the mastery of golf marketing and professional golf membership sales.

  • GOLF MARKETING CONSCIOUS INCOMPETENCE  new
The second stage in mastering a given skill is what they call “conscious incompetence” (you are now aware that you are unequipped to do the task), i.e., successfully market your golf club. This is where you start to realize that you have no education, skill set or any idea to even start your mastery of golf marketing. You will realize you do not have the proper tools to be successful in golf marketing and you will start to seek out more information to enhance your skills in golf marketing.

  • GOLF MARKETING HASN’T CHANGED PART 1  new
Golf properties frequently fall into patterns when it comes to golf course marketing. Sadly, most golf properties have a handful of ideas and a few “go to” mediums of delivery when it comes to attracting new golfers. Discounted tee times, free lunch, free range balls, etc., which are delivered via e-mails, newspaper ads, cart signage, etc. are the staples of the golf industry.

  • GOLF MARKETING HASN’T CHANGED PART 2  new
After putting together some mail outs for the months of January and February, it is time for you to think about March. If March is the beginning of your season, launch a golf marketing campaign announcing the opening of the golf course for the new season. Think of something that all core golfers want, package it in a way that is attractive and find the most powerful medium to deliver your message.

  • GOLF MARKETING MAXIMIZE EARNING POTENTIAL  new
Golf marketing and professional golf membership sales are kind of taboo to a lot of golf clubs. Some golf properties want to think they are above it, some don’t see the value in it and some just don’t want to fool with it. No matter how you feel about golf marketing really doesn’t matter. Think of it like bathing; it might take a little time every day but if you fail to do it you will suffer pain for failing to just set aside a few minutes every day. Golf marketing doesn’t have to cost a fortune and can also be done without investing too much extra time.

  • GOLF MARKETING QUESTIONS FOR OWNER’S  new
I write a lot of blogs on golf membership sales and loyalty programs but if you do not do the research you will never know who your target is and how to get them to commit their loyalty to your golf club.

  • GOLF MARKETING REPETITION PART 1  new
Repetition has been defined by Anthony Robbins (http://www.tonyrobbins.com/) as “the mother of skill.” I agree with that a hundred percent. You can never get great at anything without repeating it over and over and over again and that is not to be confused with Albert Einstein's definition of insanity which is “doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result” but rather, repetition is required and is an absolute must to achieve the same result over and over again.

  • GOLF MARKETING RESEARCH  new
First you need to think of research in two ways: 1. GOLFER’S attitudes, i.e., emotions and feelings. 2. GOLFER’S behaviors, i.e., buying patterns and spending habits. You start this research by listening to your golfers and stop listening to yourself. Suspend your ego temporarily and get the information you need from the source...your golfers. Your golfers are a wealth of information; they will tell you why they are happy, sad, disappointed, pleased, why they joined your golf club, why they didn’t join your competitor, why they stay, or worse, why they are planning to leave.

  • GOLF MARKETING ROUTINES  new
One of the keys to raising revenue and increasing rounds for golf courses is to be consistent in your marketing campaigns. I don't just mean being consistent in your message, although that is extremely important in building your brand. I mean getting yourself into routines that set your golf marketing up on auto pilot.

  • GOLF MARKETING TELEMARKETING  new
When it comes to golf marketing “Steady Eddie” is the way. Stay consistent with your message and keep your name in front of your targets. Timing is everything and it holds true in golf advertising as well. If you don’t create new ways of increasing rounds and raise golf revenue, what will it cost you? Sitting and waiting for the phone to ring without any exposure through golf marketing campaigns is like looking east for a sunset; no matter how bad you want it (hope it), it’s never going to happen.
