Dear Friend,

It’s Sunday again and we are in a relaxed mode. If you need to get into the mood this video is for you. Enjoy.

Dave

Dear adventurer,

Living here in the beautiful South of England we have experienced much rain in the last 24 hours. Yesterday the rain was very persistent and did not stop. As adventurers rain does not stop us from our outdoor experiences. The correct gear is needed to keep day and for the experience to remain positive. Yesterday I picked a new waterproof jacket because her regular jacket was not suitable for the rain. I have included some links below for you to go and have a browse.

If at any time you need help with selecting a suitable waterproof then leave a comment.

Happy adventures,

Dave

Dear Reader,

My daughter has written an article about an adventure we had in the Lake District. Hope you enjoy. If you like please post a comment. Thanks!

Walking in the lakes.

In December 2009 my family and I went up to The Lake District for a week. We stayed at a nice Scandinavian lodge at Hartsop fold in Patterdale and the views from the lodge were amazing. As a family we did lots of walking and exploring. My dad, sister, friend and I all walked up Angle Tarn which was 1st ever mountain walk and successfully made it to the top within 3 hours. While walking it was very windy and cold, but it was definitely worth it by knowing what you have achieved. We explored the life of Beatrix Potter and the Beatrix Potter shop. It was all about her past and future. It was very interesting. We also went to different types of galleries. There we saw different types of paintings and learned all about there life. It was the best Lake District trip we have ever been on. And to all of you out there who have never been to the Lake District, I totally recommend that you go to, it will be the best holiday that you have ever had. And it will be the best experience of your life.

Thanks for reading.

In today’s financial climate it could be so easy to become obsessed with everyday living, your job and worrying about financial implications of booking a camping adventure for you and your family. We could get taken in by this rat race and forget the importance of family values and ensuring that our children are given the opportunity to express themselves in this beautiful outdoor world.

If you have a family and enjoy camping it may prove expensive to purchase all the equipment needed. When camping as a family it is essential to have all the correct gear especially if adverse weather may be forecast, this would ensure that everyone in the family has basic comforts and safety issues addressed. What can be done to reduce cost? Here are some ideas for you to consider.

1) Approach family and friends to see if you can borrow any equipment. This is a positive way because you can offer any equipment you may have in return for when they go camping. Getting other family members involved is a fantastic idea to bond the family together. Maybe there are cousins, aunts, uncles, grand parents who would love the opportunity to be invited along to share in your experience. Inviting close friends that the whole family get along well with would also be a benefit, especially if they have children the same age as yours. This would take the pressure form you as the children would enjoy playing together, leaving you time to chill and save money on buying activities for the children to participate in.

2) Some countries offer free-cycle where you can offer any unwanted items that you may have. They generally allow you to request items also. So why not put a wanted sign out for any unwanted camping equipment. Make sure the group is in your area and you may be amazed what you may be given. Also, charity shops are an excellent way of finding kit which is very reasonably priced. Equipment like hiking boots, waterproofs, sleeping bags, tents, winter gear could all be purchased for next to nothing making an amazing saving on your camping budget.

3) Some camping equipment may be hired from a supplier. This has an advantage as it may save money and also save kit lying around when it is not being used. It is very wise to shop around if you are going to take this route. There are a lot of businesses out there who may be willing to even reduce price of hire gear if they know you are on a budget.  If you are camping with children then taking simple kit like trumps, cards and simple board games will reduce costs as children will be entertained in the evening time and if weather is not too good. Taking you own food with you when camping will definitely reduce the cost of feeding a family and will prove fun for children as they like to learn to cook when camping. Enjoy your camping adventure!

Happy Adventures, Dave

What a beautiful Sunday morning we have here in the south of England. Looks like summer is hanging on and temperatures are still good during the day. Chilli at night. Still at home this morning as have hay fever or a cold. Head is full of congestion. It’s given me the opportunity to look at how to best market camping and adventure.com

The decision made is to ensure that you dear reader are given a blog to read which is not swamped with adverts, flashing banners which lead to some sort of website that no one knows, or to those companies who promise the world if you sign up. The only links you will ever see are links to blog directories – which I have agreed to do because they are displaying this blog for me, or links to my website. The only links on my website will be to products which I know are authentic and the companies         have an excellent reputation.  My believe is that camping and outdoor adventure is one of the best things since sliced bread and must be fully enjoyed without the distraction of the rat race that surrounds us today! I hope you are enjoying the content of the blog and it is helping you to fullfill your passion for everything outdoor!!

Just come across a “spot on” definition of adventure. It’s in the latest Trail magazine about climbing above the arctic circle. The writer says ” Adventures usually emerge from an attempt to realise an extraordinary dream”. I found this very inspiring as the purpose of the Website is to help people break out from the everyday rat race and live their adventure dreams. I hope this has inspired you today dear reader!

Just reading the latest Trail magazine and there is an article about the Berghaus Snowdoina new tent. When I read the review I felt very impressed with their creation and popped into town into Blacks. They told me that they only had two tents delivered and they were sold immediately. The height of the tent when erected was just under 5 ft and you can sit comfortably in the tent and cook in the foyer area. It is under license by Black’s leisure Group. It’s priced at about £130.00 which is good, but the weight is 2.95kg. Being a two man tent the load could be easily shared. The benefits of this tent for you is if you are new to camping. It has colour coded poles and a nice porch area to keep warm and dry and cook easily. The flysheet is 4000 hydrostatic head, groundsheet 5000mm hydostatic head. I’ve included a link for you to look.
