Research finds growing numbers leaving Haredi lifestyle, but remain religious

There's a promising sign that more people are leaving the Haredi lifestyle, yet do remain religiously observant:
When Yehuda Moses was 25, his worldview began to shift.

A member of the Belz Hasidic community, Moses found himself placed under excommunication by the group’s grand rabbi after he criticized an initiative to raise funds among community members with limited resources to fund the construction of a new synagogue.

“I began to wonder how people considered righteous could do such harmful things,” Moses, now 52, told The Times of Israel in a phone interview.

That moment marked the start of Moses’s departure from the Haredi world, a life-altering choice being made by a growing number of ultra-Orthodox Israelis, according to a comprehensive study published earlier this year by Out for Change, which provides help to those leaving the ultra-Orthodox community.

The study found that rather than marking a complete break, a stereotype enforced by pop culture portrayals, leaving the ultra-Orthodox world is a complicated process that can preserve some aspects of the former lives of ex-Haredim, from faith to their relationships with their parents.

At the time of his shunning, Moses was already married with five children, all of whom left the ultra-Orthodox world with him. Yet while he now describes himself as completely secular, getting there took over two decades, while his wife and three daughters still maintain some level of religiosity.

“Only recently I started to travel on Shabbat,” he said.

Based on publicly available Central Bureau of Statistics data, Out for Change found that many former members of the Haredi community maintain some level of religious observance, albeit a less stringent one.

Fewer than one in five former Haredim describe themselves as completely secular, according to the study, which was published in February.

“Past qualitative research on the topic has shown that the choice to leave Haredi society behind often is not an issue of faith, but rather of seeking a different lifestyle or quality of life,” said Adar Anisman, head of research at Out for Change and one of the authors of the report.
An important point I can offer is that somebody I knew once said that a serious rabbi doesn't impose dress codes. And that's something everybody, whether they're ultra-Orthodox who wish to leave the lifestyle, should know.

The former Belz member has a point that people with low income can't be expected to strain their budgets in order to build synagogues, since what if they have children who need food on the table, and need to be able to afford it? While financing independently can be worthwhile, that's no excuse for using the kind of socialist influence some Haredi gurus happen to employ to get their subjects to bankroll any kind of religious institute; the gurus should be able to find the funding themselves. All that aside, it's good there's more who're exiting the lifestyle, and looking for how they can give religion a better name with a simpler lifestyle that doesn't stifle self-determination and such.

USA State Dept. takes up a positive cause in Europe

State Department officials are taking a special trip in Europe to defend free speech rights of its citizens:
A group of senior State Department officials will head to France and Ireland this week to push both countries to respect citizens’ rights, The Daily Wire has learned.

The trip is part of a State Department effort to fight “egregious examples of democratic backsliding” and “violations of basic natural rights” in Europe, a senior State Department official shared with The Daily Wire. The initiative, launched by the department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, is especially focused on defending freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to privacy.

The countries in question “claim to be bastions of democracy,” the senior State Department official explained, “they’re so-called liberal democracies that preach inclusivity and tolerance and progress, and the reality on the ground just simply shows that isn’t the case.”

In France, the State Department delegation will meet with government officials to discuss the recent arrest of French politician Marine Le Pen. In Ireland, their discussion will focus on concerns that a new European Union law could be used to censor free speech.

Under President Donald Trump, the State Department is working to push American allies to respect the rights of their citizens and the rights of American citizens. Foggy Bottom sees trips like this as opportunities to battle the global political apparatus that has been weaponized against both European and American people, an apparatus that wants to silence individuals who stand up for traditional values like faith, freedom, and family.
Vice president J.D Vance already expressed concerns over these issues. He should also remind Israel's left the time's come to stop anything similar. For now, this is by far the best thing I've read about what projects the State Department's worked on, and a firm message must be sent to Europe to stop suppressing opposition to Islam, among other pressing subjects.

NY community garden loses license after supporting PLO/Hamas, and corporations stop supporting LGBT ideology

NYC's council did something right by revoking the license of a Queens County community garden that was promoting left-wing causes, including support for PLO/Hamas jihadism, along with other "causes" the left-wing took up over the past decade:
A community garden in Queens, New York has had its license revoked after allegedly pressuring members to adopt far-left political positions — including pledging solidarity with Palestinians — sparking outrage from locals.

The Sunset Community Garden, located in Ridgewood was closed by the Parks Department on May 5 after officials determined its membership requirements violated city rules, the New York Post reported. The garden’s so-called “community agreements” required participants to affirm a slate of ideological positions, including standing “in solidarity with the oppressed and marginalized people” of Palestine and embracing progressive gender ideologies. The garden must be cleared out by June 6.

The garden — funded in part by the city through a collaboration with the nonprofit GrowNYC — was built on city-owned property, originally meant to serve the Ridgewood community as a non-political space. But critics say it was “hijacked by crazies,” in the words of former organizer Christina Wilkinson, after radical activists took over operations.

The group’s now-private Instagram account previously posted slogans like “From the River to the Sea,” widely condemned as antisemitic, and called for members to use “correct pronouns” and embrace “queer, trans, disabled, chronically ill, femme, poor, immigrant, refugee, fat bodies, and richly melanated community,” the New York Post reported.
It's stunning how only so many movements like these have sold out to these specific ideologies, even if they clash with each other. As a result, their dedication to botany is also in doubt. I'll give credit to the staff of Eric Adams for revoking the garden's license, but even so, there's only so much about NYC that discourages me from visiting there again.

And then, it looks like corporations are withdrawing their support for all the horrific LGBT ideology movements that became a sad staple of the past decade:
A host of American corporations are backpedaling from their involvement in gay pride events this year amid the Trump administration’s rollback of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts across the country.

There have been a growing number of reports that organizers of major gay pride parades and festivals across the U.S. are scrambling for funds due to several longtime corporate sponsors scaling back their support of LGBTQ events. Some scholars explained to the Daily Caller News Foundation that news of companies pulling back from pride events may reflect a broader shift away from DEI in corporate America.

“We are seeing major companies, in meaningful numbers, either eliminating or modifying their DEI programs, which certainly does include sponsoring LGBTQ+ pride events and so on,”
Stefan Padfield, the executive director of the National Center’s Free Enterprise Project, told the DCNF. “I think really the bottom line here is that there has just arisen an awareness on the part of executives that this promotion of these [pride] events runs such a meaningful risk of being perceived as pushing transgender ideology on parents … I think corporations have finally woken up to the reality that that’s a very big risk for them to be taking.”

“Those of us on the right, conservatives in this space, we are just pushing corporations to get back to neutral,” Padfield added. “We just want them to stop pushing these agendas down our throat, just get back to producing great products and services and making America great through the power of capitalism in that way … the left, on the other hand, wants the corporations to push their agendas. This is really a step back to neutrality, and I think we need to celebrate it and encourage more of it.”
Anyone notice how corporate support for feminist movements, by contrast, seems to have disappeared almost entirely, if at all in the past decade, no matter how bad that was to boot? If they'd kept on with this DEI propaganda though, chances are entirely possible that soon enough, they'd be replacing support for LGBT ideology with support for Islam, and if you know where to look, undoubtably, it's there. Good to see they're retreating now from the DEI propaganda they were backing until recently. But if they really want to apologize, that's why they'll start showing support for women's dignity again, by which I don't mean feminism, of course, since those were left-wing movements that pushed it. It's got to be respect for women's rights and dignity in a general sense, plain and simple.

USA wrestling program unworthy of anybody's time, and Eurovision management disappoints too

The WWE has allowed 2 wrestlers to enter the ring with outfits featuring the PLO flag, which is also the Hamas flag:
In the midst of a particularly sensitive week for Israelis and Jews worldwide, two WWE wrestlers – Sami Zayn and CM Punk – entered the ring wearing outfits styled after the colors and design of the Palestinian Liberation Organization flag. The decision, which was pre-approved by WWE management, drew a wave of backlash from fans, especially in Israel, who viewed it as an act of complete disregard.

Oren Treitman, from the Closeline group that closely follows the wrestling scene in Israel and abroad, told Israel Hayom after the event: "There's a deep sense of disgust. It's unbelievable that WWE allowed them to wear such controversial gear in the same week a couple was murdered at the Israeli Embassy in Washington by a fanatic, and while an American influencer is using his platform to call for the killing of Zionists. They let those two wrestlers go on stage dressed in support of that same message of extreme hatred and racism. It's a disgrace."

Treitman added that, unlike previous incidents, this time there was significant pushback from fans: "What's encouraging is that for the first time we're seeing a substantial portion of the audience respond accordingly and condemn their actions – the fact that they're pushing an antisemitic agenda and that fans are fed up with them exploiting this platform. WWE is giving them a free pass without any consequences." According to him, the prevailing feeling within the Israeli wrestling fan community is that "WWE has decided it doesn't care about Jews, backing decisions like this one."

Several weeks ago, Israel Hayom reached out to senior WWE officials over antisemitic activity by Sami Zayn on social media. The posts he shared – which included harsh anti-Israel rhetoric and anti-Zionist imagery – caused an uproar among Jewish fans. Following the official inquiry, Zayn removed the posts. But now, members of the Israeli wrestling community say it appears that WWE leadership has once again chosen to turn a blind eye and allow Zayn and CM Punk to continue promoting extremist political messages – this time from inside the ring.
Personally, I've thought for many years that programs like the WWE only made the whole sport look more like tabloid farce than serious competition. Something tells me that Japan's sumo wrestling divisions wouldn't allow this kind of monstrosity by contrast. And over in Europe, it turns out Eurovision refused to include Israel in their official album reel, despite the 2nd place victory of Yuval Raphael, whose choice by continental voters proves antisemitism isn't inherently accepted there:
The European Broadcasting Union has reignited Eurovision controversy by completely excluding Israel's 2025 representative, Yuval Raphael, from the official album compilation video, despite her second-place finish and commanding victory in the public vote. The deliberate omission has triggered widespread accusations of discriminatory treatment and double standards, particularly as competing nations received prominent showcasing in the promotional reel released Friday.

Raphael's stirring performance of "New Day Will Rise" resonated powerfully with Eurovision audiences, catapulting her from a disappointing 15th place in jury voting to an impressive second-place overall finish through massive public support. However, when the European Broadcasting Union unveiled its official Eurovision album compilation video on Friday, Raphael had vanished entirely from the celebratory montage that prominently featured performers from Austria, Estonia, Sweden, Germany, and France.

The glaring disparity has provoked immediate backlash from Eurovision enthusiasts. While other competing nations enjoyed sparkling stage presentations, dramatic soundtracks, and emotionally charged moments in the compilation, Israel appeared completely erased, as though Raphael's remarkable comeback performance never happened. [...]

This exclusion continues a disturbing pattern that has developed over recent Eurovision cycles. In 2023, Noa Kirel's third-place achievement secured her prominent placement in the official compilation. The subsequent year witnessed Eden Golan's fifth-place performance being omitted from promotional materials. Now, even securing second place overall has proven inadequate for inclusion, indicating an escalating trend that devoted fans are increasingly rejecting.
Personally, I don't understand why nobody with the dough to afford it tries to establish a rival program, which could avoid the kind of politics Eurovision regrettably is held hostage to. For now, maybe it'd be better to boycott Eurovision altogether, and does anybody really need that kind of program to promote their music? Certainly not if competition can be developed.

Leftist politician Yair Golan causes anger with abominable speech attacking IDF

The leftist Knesset member Yair Golan, now head of what's the Israeli Democrats party(!) in the Knesset, recently caused outrage with the following offensive smear against the IDF, all at a time when the country is facing serious danger from Islamofacism:
At a time when Israel is at war, the nation is mourning its dead and soldiers are risking their lives defending the country, certain lines must never be crossed. Yet Yair Golan, the former Israel Defense Forces deputy chief of staff who is now head of the left-wing Democrats Party, obliterated one of those lines with a single, devastating sentence: “A sane country doesn’t kill babies for fun.”

He wasn’t talking about the terrorist Hamas regime that kidnapped, tortured and murdered Israeli children in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. He wasn’t talking about the monsters who slaughtered infants in their homes during the Hamas-led terrorist attacks that Black Shabbat, or held baby Kfir Bibas and his brother, Ariel, hostage in Gaza before brutally killing them.

No. Golan was talking about our own IDF soldiers—the very men and women he once commanded
.

The moral bankruptcy of Golan’s statement becomes clear through the eyewitness account of Natanel Engel, who was present at Israel’s forensic institute when the bodies of the Bibas children were returned in February. His account, shared on his social media, cuts through political rhetoric to reveal the devastating truth.

“This past February, when the bodies of the Bibas family were returned—baby Kfir and his brother Ariel—I was there. At the forensic institute,”
Engel wrote. “I saw what was done to them. The marks. The abuse. The evil. And most of all—I saw the faces of the staff who treated them: a team that’s seen it all. Hundreds of bodies have passed through there since that horrific day. Bodies of babies, women, soldiers, civilians. But when it came to the children of this family, even they broke. They stood there, silent. Eyes filled with tears. Eyes hollow. There was no need to speak. It was all written on their faces.”

Engel continued, then, “I hear Yair Golan say, ‘A sane country doesn’t kill babies for fun,’ and he’s talking about IDF soldiers. Not Hamas. Not the murderers who shot, kidnapped, tortured, who held these children in captivity, one of them still nursing, without receiving breast milk! But our soldiers. Our brothers. Our sons. The ones who protect even him.” [...]

Golan knows exactly what happened. And yet, he chose to slander IDF soldiers. This isn’t criticism. This isn’t a minority opinion. This is a vile blood libel.
Such a disgraceful man had no business enrolling in the army to start with if that's how he's going to approach the whole issue. Utterly repulsive. Golan may have backed off his statements now, but he's still resorting to needless propaganda meant to oppose combating Hamas:
The Democrats party leader, Yair Golan, gave his first interview to Channel 12 following a wave of criticism over his recent controversial statements, on Saturday evening.

In the interview, Golan sought to clarify his intent, saying, “Of course Israel doesn’t kill babies for a hobby. Israel has not committed war crimes in Gaza. My comments were directed at the political leadership. The goal of the war is political. Hamas has been militarily defeated – we must bring the war to an end and secure the release of all the hostages in one decisive move.”
Ahem. The only problem is that the IDF should be searching for and rescuing the hostages from whereever they're imprisoned. And so far, that's not exactly the case. But to say the war's goal is solely "political", is to minimize the vitality of obliterating savagery and preventing it from being a threat again. Golan's only failed miserably to recognize why evils must be defeated if future generations are to be safe from violent crime.

Anti-Israeli politicians and media spread lies about "starvation" in Gaza

Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about how the anti-Israelists are spreading blood libels about Muslims "starving" in Gaza:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out on Thursday night at world leaders for spreading "Hamas's propaganda" that Israel is starving Palestinian children, which culminated in the killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C.

"A few days ago, a top U.N. official said that 14,000 Palestinian babies would die in 48 hours. You see many international institutions are complicit in spreading this lie," Netanyahu said in a video posted on X.

"The press repeats it. The mob believed it. And a young couple is then brutally gunned down in Washington," the premier said, referencing victims Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, who were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington on Wednesday night.

Addressing the starvation accusations, Netanyahu stressed that "Since Oct. 7, Israel has sent 92,000 aid trucks into Gaza. That's right. Ninety-two thousand aid trucks. That includes 1.8 million tons of aid. 1.8 million tons of aid — more than enough food to feed everyone in Gaza."

The problem, however, was that Hamas stole it
, he continued.

The Hamas terrorist group "took a huge chunk for themselves. The rest they sold at exorbitant prices to the Palestinian population. And then they used the money they stole to recruit new terrorists to continue their war against Israel," Netanyahu noted.

"Our goal from the start was to get food to Palestinian civilians, not to Palestinian terrorists," he said.
Unfortunately, even if the pro-Islamic sympathisers in the west knew this, they'd still commit murders. And they don't give a damn about the subjects of Hamas regardless.

2 Israeli embassy employees in District of Columbia were murdered by Hamas-PLO sympathiser

The antisemitic incitement over the past year and a half since October 7, 2023, has now cost the lives of 2 workers at the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C:
At least two staffers with the Israeli embassy were reportedly shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night.

Reporter Josh Kraushaar of Jewish Insider broke the story on X.

“There was an event for young Israeli diplomats being held at the DC museum this evening,” said Kraushaar.

“Two Israeli Embassy staff killed, per source familiar with the shooting outside the DC Capital Jewish museum,” he added.

One witness claimed that the individual who committed the killing shouted, “Free Palestine,” repeatedly while being escorted out by police.

“After the shooting a guy came inside [the museum] saying he saw it and needed water and a safe space, then whipped out a keffiyeh and yelled free Palestine a bunch before being escorted out by police,”
the witness told Kraushaar.
Israel's ambassador at the UN says it's the result of tons of anti-Israeli incitement you can hear at bad universities:
On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon reacted to the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staffers on Wednesday by saying, “When people are spreading lies, blaming us [for] genocide, calling for intifada, for like armed revolt against Israel, that is the consequence that we saw tonight.” And “We have seen the incitement on campuses. We have seen the incitement in many places.”
The victims were an Israeli-Christian couple who worked at the embassy. And now this incitement has also cost the lives of defenseless Christian adherents as well, before they could even marry. Condolences to the families of the victims.

Update: Donald Trump's announced he's devastated this terrible incident happened, and more info's come out that the terrorist was a far-left activist. Here's more about a manifesto the terrorist scrawled.

Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in France may go back at least 70 years

The French government is looking to ban having girls younger than 15 wear Islamic veils in public, after a chilling report about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration that spans as far back as 70 years:
French President Emmanuel Macron’s political party has called for a ban on young girls wearing Islamic veils in public and a new law against “Islamist entryism” after a bombshell government report found that the Muslim Brotherhood has waged a multi-generational campaign to infiltrate institutions and control Islamic communities in service of instituing Sharia law to the West.

Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who leads President Macron’s Renaissance party in the National Assembly, proposed on Wednesday that the ban on wearing veils in public be extended to girls under the age of 15. France became the first European country to impose such a ban for adults in 2011.

However, Attal argued that the government must go further in the wake of the publication of a government report, which found that the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood has sought for at least seven decades to subvert France and other European nations through clandestinely entering institutions and taking control over various facets of Muslim communities to promote Sharia practices to Islamise the West.

According to the report, the movement has seized upon supposed social justice campaigns through its various Muslim association proxies against “Islamophobia” — a term coined by the Muslim Brotherhood — and the veil ban to create a veneer of legitimacy in public discourse and to rally Muslim communities to their cause.

Meanwhile, local arms of the Brotherhood, in which trained Islamist activists are installed as managers at community shops, sports groups, private education, financial services, dating sites and elsewhere, have been established to control all aspects of life within Islamic communities and enforce strict Muslim practices, such as forcing the veil on women and girls.

The report found that this has resulted in a “massive and visible increase in little girls wearing the veil”, including girls as young as five or six years old, who are described as the “baby lion cubs” of radical Islam in France.

Thus, the Macronist party has called for fresh legislation to make “an offence of coercion to wear the veil against parents who force their minor daughters to wear the veil,” which they argue contravenes gender equality and child protection principles, Le Figaro reports.
While this is important news, it's a terrible shame Macron himself is undermining efforts to enforce safety for youngsters by attacking Israel over its army campaign in Gaza (as are the UK and Canada), because all that does is send a message to Islamofascists that the French government isn't really serious about their objections. Exactly why somebody needs to tell Macron this is just as unacceptable as Islamofascism in France's area too.
