1. India announces 1 billion dollar line of credit for the development of Russia’s Far East.

India announced a line of credit of US $1 billion for the development of Russia’s Far East region. The announcement will provide a kick start for India’s ‘Act Far East’ Policy. This is the first region-specific line of credit that India is extending to any country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi backed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s blueprint for developing the sparsely populated region bordering China, which involves the construction of housing facilities, improving connectivity, and the potential of enhancing eco-friendly tourism.


2. Three Indian cities among top five air traffic sources in Abu Dhabi.

 

London, Delhi, Mumbai, Cairo, and Cochin are the top five destinations that contributed to the highest share of traffic through the Abu Dhabi airport during summer months. Etihad Airways operate 159 return flights every week between Abu Dhabi and 10 Indian cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, etc. The Eid Al Adha period, which falls between July 7 and July 17, saw the busiest time with 713,297 passengers arriving, departing and transiting from the airport.

3. Sri Lankan Navy Ships leave for Indo-Lanka Joint Naval Exercise SLINEX 2019.

Sri Lankan Navy ships Sindurala and Suranimala leave for India to attend the annual joint naval exercise- SLINEX 2019. The exercise will be attended by 323 Sri Lankan Navy personnel, including the commanding flag officer of the naval fleet. The exercise features wide-ranging naval exercises, including helicopter operations. Sri Lankan navy said in a statement that the exercise signifies the desire of both countries to enhance co-operation and to further strengthen mutual trust and interoperability between the two navies.
