Access your folders from taskbar

Accessing folders from taskbar saves a lot of time as we don’t have to open the windows explorer window and browse to the required folder through along path.

a). Right click an empty spot on your taskbar between start button and system tray.

b) Click Toolbars and then choose the “New Toolbar” option from it.

c) Then a small window will open which allows you to choose the folder that you wish to make a toolbar.

Automatically optimize your hard disk

We generally use windows defragmenter to optimize our hard drives but with a little change in registry settings, windows will automatically optimize the location of files in your hard drive when the pc is idle. Here’s the trick

a) Go to start and open run, type regedit and enter to open registry settings.

b) When regedit is opened browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ OptimalLayout

c) There you will find a string called EnableAutoLayout, change its data value to 1. If the string is not present the create it and set its data value to 1.

Now exit regedit and reboot your PC and its done.

Remove the Recycle Bin

This is a good idea if you want to save both desktop and hard drive space.

To remove the Recycle bin from your desktop, go to Start > Run and type gpedit.msc

Go to User Configuration > Administrative templates > Desktop > Remove Recycle bin icon from desktop

Enable it and reboot or type gpupdate.exe into the run box to apply changes.

If you want to completely remove the Recycle Bin, go to Start > Run and type regedit.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BitBucket/C and open NukeOnDelete. Change the value to “1″ and reboot.

Make your XP start up a lot faster

There is a Startup Delay value in the Registry Editor that, when decreased, will make your XP start up faster.

To to this go to Start > Run and type regedit to open up the Registry Editor.

Navigate to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex and look for an entry named StartupDelay. Change the default value of 4800000 to 40000 and reboot for the changes to take effect.

How To Watch TV From Your Computer For Free

If you have an internet connection and 3MB of free disk space, you can watch TV on your PC for free. Yeah, I know you can buy all those weird TV cards and even antennas for your PC, but that isn’t FREE, is it?

The way to go, is to download a free peer-to-peer streaming program. One of the best for that is SopCast. It is very popular and has many channels to watch, from sports broadcasts to movies.

1. Download the latest version of it and install.

2. Run the program. It will ask you to login with your account (which you can create for free) or login as anonymous user. I don’t see a big difference in which one you use.

3. Next you want to choose a channel to watch. There are hundreds, so you have a good choice. Just click the channel you want to watch and it will start streaming in your default video player. You can go full screen with hardly a quality problem on most channels.

Enjoy!
